🌊 “I Thank God for the Lighthouse” – A Story Behind the Brushstrokes

There’s something so powerful about a lighthouse. It stands tall through every storm, unwavering and constant, guiding others safely home with its light. When I painted this lighthouse in Michigan, I felt that same sense of strength, peace, and purpose wash over me. Every brushstroke reminded me that even in life’s darkest moments, God’s light is never far—it’s steady, it’s faithful, and it’s always leading us toward hope.

The inspiration for this piece came not only from the beautiful Michigan shoreline but also from the way a lighthouse feels like a quiet sermon. It doesn't shout, it just shines. And sometimes, that’s exactly what we need—to just be still and let the light do its work.

But speaking of shouting... 😂

Around our house, there’s nothing quiet about lighthouses. My sweet husband, whom I lovingly call Honeybear, has made it a full-on performance. Anytime he sees this painting—or even hears me mention the word "lighthouse"—he belts out, in his big booming voice, “I THANK GOD FOR THE LIGHTHOUSE!” 🎶 We’re talking full gospel choir volume here. It echoes through the halls, rattles the windows, and I’m pretty sure our neighbors three doors down are singing along by now. The kids and I can’t help but burst out laughing every time. It’s become one of our favorite little family quirks.

This painting now holds even more meaning—it’s not just about divine guidance and peace, but also about the joy, laughter, and love that fills our home. That’s the beautiful thing about art: it captures not only what you see but what you feel—faith, hope, and maybe even a little harmless, hilarious chaos.

So yes… I thank God for the lighthouse.
And I really thank Him for Honeybear. 💕
